Motivation

For several years, I’ve thought about creating a website and each year it never happens. The reasons being the typical “I’m too busy”, the apprehension of “do I really want to share things on the internet?”, or the doubt of “do I really have anything interesting to say?” Then, one day, I read this.

I’ve wanted to share ideas, thoughts, or tutorials that will hopefully help someone, someday. If somehow I fail at helping someone else, then I can at least say that I helped myself and failed forward by practicing written form communication and deepening my knowledge of the topics I write about.

I’ve been inspired by websites like danluu.com, fabiensanglard.net and sivers.org. Their website designs are simple and minimal yet are still able to communicate tremendous value. I could only hope to reach the level of value they provide in their content. I realize I can never get there without trying. So here goes…

Values

Simplicity

I believe things should be as simple as can be while providing the intended value. Unnecessary complexity leads to bloat, bugs and bad experiences. Do one thing and do it well.

Privacy

No trackers. No advertisements. I believe your data should be yours to keep. For a personal website, analytics leads to bloat and unnecessary complexity (see simplicity) with little gain. So, I have no idea you are reading this or how many people are reading this. If you would like to let me know about your visit, whether it be to give constructive feedback or just to say hello, feel free to get in touch.

Learn

I believe we should always strive to grow a little smarter, stronger and more compassionate every single day. Don’t be afraid to fail, learn from your mistakes and get comfortable being uncomfortable. This website will be my attempt at putting myself in an uncomfortable position to learn different topics and hopefully share that learning (see motivation section above).

If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for spending at least one of your 100 blocks a day with me.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
